The Earlies
SUNDAY 2150 Stage 1 The Earlies are Christian Madden and Giles Hatton from Lancashire, and Brandon Carr and John Mark Lapham from the United States. Their sound has been described by the Independent as "a very English kind of folk-psychedelia (think Sergeant Pepper-era Beatles, or The Beta Band) with a smattering of Beach Boys harmonies and the grandiose American spaciousness of, say, Mercury Rev." Enough said....

Stephen Fretwell
SATURDAY 2000 Stage 1 Although he may not have been born in Manchester, the city is proud to claim acoustic singer/songwriter, Stephen Fretwell, as one of their own. A product of the Brit-pop era and citing Bob Dylan as a key influence, Fretwell rose to critical acclaim with his debut album 'Magpie' released in 2004. Last year Fretwell released his follow-up album 'Man on the Roof' which again trades on Fretwell's harmonious melancholy storytelling.

Bone-Box
SATURDAY 1900 Stage 1 Bone-box are from Manchester, a fact difficult to believe from the sound of 'Do You Feel Youve Been Warned?' Knocking around in the leftfield of the north west music scene for a while, this isnt another Northern Quarter indie band of no particular hair do, Bone-box are too cool and too detached to be swept along by fads or gimmicks. Thank goodness for that.
